Acute toxicity of deet to a freshwater fish, Tilapia mossambica : Effect on tissue glutathione levels.

Tilapia mossambica , were exposed to LC sub(50) concentration (120, 140 and 150 ppm) of a mosquito repellent, Deet. At the end of 96 h, fish were sacrificed and glutathione levels were estimated in kidney, liver and gill. These tissues showed almost dose dependent increase in glutathione levels. This increase was more in the liver followed by the kidney and gill.
