Creative perfumers are rarely asked to talk about their art. Most discussions about the nose are given by scientists coming from chemical or pharmaceutical disciplines. Most of their theories are well-structured and fascinating, but they often lack the perfumer's perspective because these scientists think they know everything and view perfumers as unreliable eccentrics (which we often are). This attitude has been around since Aristotle (350 BC), who viewed knowledge as too fascinating a thing to be shared with ordinary people.
